How to Deal With Alcoholics: How Do I Stop Being Codependent?

Question by DBleu: How do I stop being codependent?
I am codependent due to growing up in a family where a member was an alcoholic. I always feel like other people’s problems are my responsibility and I feel bad when they are sad/mad/hurt. I like to feel needed and if they don’t take my advice, I feel hurt. Their problems feel like a burden, stress me out and I need to stop feeling this way because I have no control over them.
How can I stop being so codependent?

It takes a lot of work to stop co-dependent behavior and put your needs first. Talk to a therapist about ways to break the cycle so you can stop living for others and enjoy your life more.
