Alcoholic Children: My Parents Pray Every Night and Go to Church Every Week..?

Question by VIKA: My parents pray every night and go to church every week..?
I have been surrounded by Christianity my whole life, and my parents stand by their religion with fanatical vigor, Yet when it comes to everyday life it is mental, physical, and emotion abuse… and they justify it with “the Bible says you must hit your children”
My parents are from Ukraine which might clarify the situation, My mom grew up with an alcoholic dad so to me it seems she has the characteristics of an alcoholic..
But be all as it may, the fact that the control they try to put over the children –homeschooling me, pulling me out of every social situation I find [they block social sites, they must know the friend I’m with and approve of them (which never happens), etc etc. Honestly they seem to have fun restricting me from the world, and enclosing me in their religion .. where at the church they attend you must dress like a nun and basically have no life and obsessively read the bible and go to church… and you must marry and be totally submissive to the husband, and have a breading frenzy (no birth control is allowed)
Needless to say many of my friends from my childhood of going to church (in the past 3 years Ive gone like 3 times, each time being shocked at the ignorance and lack of life) are completely brainwashed and look to marriage being the answer, they be happy, but at the same time “they’ll be going to heaven”

All that said I see it as the most ignorant brick in the wall path to take….

But what my question boils down to is how do these Christians claim happiness and becoming “free from sin” yet lack the healthy human interaction and being in touch with the world and leading a fulfilling life, and how do they justify the abuse that they inflict on their children and the submissiveness that you are to have towards your husband (which you are under no circumstances allowed to divorce) and submissiveness that you are expected to have at blindly following this religion …

Btw Maybe this only occurs in Ukrainian/Russian household, and that couples with the characteristics they inherit from their alcoholic abuse parents… Which I see in virtually every friends house, But I some of my explanation applies to people of other races and backgrounds.

Can you as a person of whatever religion or lack there of provide me with answers to the questions I included above? This means a lot to me because I just don’t get everything that I was subjected to and otherwise observed…
Wow..

Btw I want to add “lack of healthy human interaction” is what occurs in my … my mom never sees things as they are, its overblown drama (what I think an alcoholics mind works) and she leads every conversation into a fight. And my dad is kind of under her power…. And everything I do and like is me committing a sin and worshiping the devil, i.e. listening to rock music, drawing things that symbolize the dark and depressing side of life, reading certain books, watching moves is a big sin regardless of what it is …
I have cut myself off from the BS of theirs and Im getting out of this house in 3 months but tonight Im kind of reflecting on my past life and trying to make sense of it…. But I know that getting out is the right thing to do and looking effing forward to it!! wooo HOOO!!

Btw I would love going to a black church. Maybe Ill check that out..
