I’ve Been Having a Lot of Weird Dreams Lately… Is This a Bad Thing?

Question by Chipster Dofus: I’ve been having a lot of weird dreams lately… is this a bad thing?
Okay, so over the past 2-3 weeks, I’ve been having some really strange sleeping habits. In some cases, I wake up way to early. In others – I sleep WAY, WAY too long.

In the case of the oversleeping, I can attribute it to one thing, I think. Dreams. Recently I’ve been having vivid dreams almost every night. In some cases, I think I actually believe I’m already awake, which causes me to not “snap out of it”. It’s kind of freaking me out a little.

I researched a little, and a lot of places say “too much sleep is a sign of depression”. Not true in my case, I don’t feel depressed at all.

Now what really bothers me is the past two nights, my dreams have been about death (unclear, maybe).

Two nights ago, I woke up and my body felt exhausted. I had only about three hours of sleep. I went back to bed and dozed off again, and had a dream I was at work – and even in the dream, I felt exhausted. A customer (I work in a CVS), asked me for help. I walked over to them, exhausted. They asked me some questions. I was kneeling down to read something on a bottom shelf. Then I felt something heavy, like a person pressing their knee down onto me. I struggled to get out from them, but my body felt too tired to move away. I asked them to get off, but they didn’t seem to pay attention. Suddenly, I was hoisted up by 5 or 6 people (customers), and was confused as to what was going on. I tried to ask what they were doing, or to get out of their grasp, but couldn’t move, like I was in a trance. Were they trying to rob me, trying to hurt me? I didn’t understand. Then a couple of them dragged me to an open area of the store, where some co-workers asked “what happened, is he okay?” I was laid down on the floor and saw some lady, another customer, with a worried look say “it’s okay, I’m here to help”… and at that point, I realized I was bleeding out of my mouth… and couldn’t respond. That was the end of that dream…. and it freaked me out BIG time.

The next night’s dream, I was standing on a bridge with a couple of guys – detectives. I presumably worked with them, since one told me we had to watch the water below for the body of a murder victim. I watched the water, and eventually saw what looked like a corpse floating rapidly down the current. I pointed it out, as it floated under the bridge. One of the “detectives” dove in after it, on the other side. I looked below, and saw a horrible site. There wasn’t one, but maybe 1-2 dozen corpses floating around on the other side. Some of them were really weird… like adult siamese twins with pure white skin, and empty hollow mouths and eye sockets… some were kids, some were babies, some were mutilated (like stretched out like silly putty)… none had defining features like hair, eyes, scars… just pasty white skin. I think the only “normal” corpse was the first one I saw. The detective that dove in the water began making scratches on his body with the fingers of the corpses. The other detective said it was some sort of DNA test to find out which one was the murder victim.

Really… this is kinda freaking me out. Whoever reads this will probably think I’m mental, but I never think of stuff like this normally… but it’s popped into my dreams the past two nights…

Is it just a fluke of bad dreams, or could this be something serious?

Try laying off the caffeine about 5 hours before going to bed. You are not mental. Sometimes God speaks and directs our path through dreams. Other times it is due to what we ate causing our minds to go into overdrive while asleep.
