Question by big red: Why would god “test” us…?
im sick of hearing my very christian mother tell me that all the bad things that happen are jsut god “testing” her.
she has been very religious ALL her life, never has done a thing wrong, yet, her 1st husband turns out to be a huge alcoholic and abuses her, and then she gets cancer…

That’s a little depressing…

God doesn’t test us. Many question whether he even exists and it’s probably wise to do so.

Life is what we make it. Some people can’t carry the weight of their own purpose in life so they submit their very will to the forces which end up making them. It’s often sad to watch, but for some people it’s inevitable and much of the time irreversible.

Leaving religion after it has formed your entire life is like saying that your entire past was a mistake. People who are fearful enough to buy into the ultimatums that religion offers may also fail to make goals and think critically without them. When you can view your life as some incomprehensible piece of a “perfect plan,” it may act to alleviate feelings of regret or apprehension in tough situations.
