Drug Abuse; as “the War on Drugs” Clearly Hasn’t Worked, What Can We Do Instead?
Question by Phil K: Drug abuse; As “the war on drugs” clearly hasn’t worked, what can we do instead?
Drug abuse is a horrible thing that does destroy people’s lives. Unfortunately the government’s method of addressing this problem, making them all illegal and proclaiming “Zero Tolerance,” clearly hasn’t worked. Drug abuse is more prevalent today than ever before. So what can we do to better address this problem? I don’t think legalizing and taxing drugs is a good idea as that would probably increase drug abuse.
Incidentally the way drugs have been prohibited or legalized has been very logically inconsistent. Alcohol is more addictive than marijuana and tobacco is more unhealthy than the same.
I’m curious to hear any ideas anyone might have, no matter how unusual.

Q&A: I Definitely Do Not Qualify for a Security Clearance. if I Joined the Military, What “cool” Stuff Can I Do?
Question by burnside 2020: I definitely do not qualify for a security clearance. If I joined the military, what “cool” stuff can I do?
I have way too many disqualifying factors to even get considered for a secret clearance and above:
In the last seven years,
– I smoked marjuana over 2000 times in my life.
– I’ve done ecstacy about 30 times.
– I’ve done LSD about 6 times and magic mushrooms about 8 times.
– I’ve done cocaine one time and meth about 5 times.
– I’ve pretty much abused every single drug (except heroin) but I’ve been clean for over a year now.
Also,
– I got arrested for minor in possession of alcohol and completed “treatment”, which is what they called it.
– I got away with two DUIs (never charged)
– All my friends are junkies (except for me)
– I have bipolar disorder and/or borderline personality disorder.
What Do YOU Consider an “alcoholic”?
Question by drake s: what do YOU consider an “alcoholic”?
I’m going to ask this as rationally as possible. I don’t care too much I just like opening up questions to people. Alcoholism is a serious disease but some people have differing opinions on what it actually is.
I, personally, believe that “alcoholism” is indeed someone who is dependent on alcohol in their daily life. However I know some people will go as far as to say that if you have one drink every day you’re an alcoholic.
I’ll admit that I do drink, but not every day. I’ll have some beers a few times a week when the opportunity comes up.
If someone has two Mountain Dews every day does that make them an addict of that too? What about a burger a day? Doesn’t seem like that’s as big of a deal to most people.
What Is Your Take on the Situation…. Was It My Fault?
Question by va beach girl: What is your take on the situation…. Was it my fault?
Last weekend my boyfriend and I got into a fight… I went out with a friend for the first time in like almost a year of leaving the house, and I was so excited that I forgot to lock the door, and I didn’t leave a note… He called me about 8 times and I was afraid to answer for the chance of my friend thinking I had a controlling person in my life… I did answer eventually, and he did freak out… now the girl does not want to talk it seems. He didn’t come home for 2 nights, and 3 days after him being home, he has not said a thing about where he had been. Normally, I would ask, or demand to know… But this time, I am pretending like I don’t care… but I am not really pretending, I don’t care anymore… at least that is how I really feel, and I haven’t felt that way before…. I am just finished fighting. Please don’t judge though because that is only MY side of the story….
I called his mom and she told me to “stop mothering him”, and that I can’t save him…. So I have been sleeping on the couch ever since, and he has not asked why… for the sake of him not wanting to tell me where he was for those 2 nights maybe?
