About six months ago, Charlene Lugar, wife of Senator Richard G Lugar (R-Ind.) was charged with DWI and hit-and-run.

Lugar was arrested in McLean after an officer stopped her, citing visible damage to her car and smoke coming from the hood. Police later determined she also hit an empty parked car about two miles from where she was stopped.

Three hours after being stopped, Lugar’s BAC measured .11.

Lugar plead guilty to DWI (the misdemeanor hit-and-run was dropped in a plea agreement). She will pay a standard 0 fine, lose her license for a year and complete an alcohol counseling program. Lugar also received a 30-day jail sentence, suspended pending completion of the above.

Lugar was fortunate—assuming she completes her other obligations, she’ll be able to avoid jail time. This is the sign that she was working with an experienced Virginia attorney.

Heart attacks occur when your heart fails to pump oxygen to some part of your heart due to blockage in one or more of the coronary arteries.

Approximately 1.5 million Americans suffer a first or recurrent heart attack every year, and of this number almost half a million do not survive. Occasionally, a heart attack may kill an individual outright with no “warning” signs at all. However, in most cases, heart attack survival depends on what is done before, during, and after a heart attack. Heart attack survival is important.

Knowledge is empowering. It is important for you to know and remember the heart attack warning signs. These heart attack symptoms include: chest pain or uncomfortable pressure in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes. This feeling of weakness or even discomfort like indigestion, often accompanied by lightheadedness, nausea, or shortness of breath, may disappear and then come back, lasting more than half an hour. You may or may not lose your consciousness when you have an attack.

What to Expect After You’re Arrested for DUI in Michigan

If you’ve been arrested for a DUI in Michigan, then you’re likely facing a series of questions and a lot of uncertainty about how you should move forward.

After all, the choices you make today determines what appears on your driving record tomorrow, as well as your future insurance rates and how you can pursue opportunities for many years to come. And these circumstances are minor when compared to a possible jail sentence.

Driving in any state with a blood alcohol content level at or above 0.08 percent is illegal. But Michigan’s zero tolerance law takes this a step further by not allowing anyone under the age of 21 to operate a motor vehicle with any trace of alcohol in their body. Also, in Michigan, a DUI charge is often referred to as OWI or Operating While Intoxicated.
