Q&A: Medical Problem — Burning Through the Nose and Makes Eye Water and Top of Head Burn?
Question by silkyworm: Medical Problem — Burning through the nose and makes eye water and top of head burn?
My husband is having this problem and this is the way he describes it:
“It feels like I’m inhaling a carbonated drink like Pepsi up my nose every time I breathe. It causes one nasal pipe to burn, my eye on the similar side to burn, and the top of my head on the similar side to burn.
Right now it’s not bothering me much, so long as I breathe lightly. But, if I take a large breathe, I feel the pain with each breath. Obviously, I won’t be taking big breaths all the time, but it concerns me because I know the problem is still there. I tried to look it up on the Internet, but I can’t seem to find a website that distinctly mentions my symptoms.”
Does any medical student or nurse/doctor or any with experience with this know what it is? We live in Colorado where the air is drier and we’re up in altitude, but we’ve lived here over a year. This has only started showing up while my husband is bicycling.
What is this and what will help relieve it?
Ok, please no guesses if you don’t have a medically educated guess. We did look this up and some call it an excercise headache. We can’t find conclusive info on this though. We just want to know how to avoid and/or treat it.

i’m not med student but obviously he’s allergic to something outside on his bike path. Have him take a different route and see if it helps. It’s probably hay fever or something like it.
