Do People Who Develop Schizophrenia Have “normal” Brains Before Symptoms Start to Occur?
Question by Xie Xie Niii: Do people who develop schizophrenia have “normal” brains before symptoms start to occur?
And then after first onset of psychosis, begin to deteriorate to having a “schizophrenic” brain?
I ask this because recently, after being diagnosed SZ, I seem to be experiencing negative symptoms like anhedonia and lack of emotions, but before my diagnosis I felt completely normal and functioned completely normal. Did my brain chemistry suddenly change for the worse after age 24?

You can find out a lot of answers at the NAMI website:

“Negative Symptomsinclude emotional flatness or lack of expression, an inability to start and follow through with activities, speech that is brief and devoid of content, and a lack of pleasure or interest in life. “Negative” does not refer to a person’s attitude but to a lack of certain characteristics that should be there.”
Also I would recommend you finding a support group or forum where you could talk with peers about this subject.
