Can an Alcoholic Drink in Moderation: Best to Talk to in-Laws About Your Kids and Their Drinking?
Question by mykidsrcuter: Best to talk to In-laws about your kids and their drinking?
I have a hard time talking to them about anything, they get really defensive. Anyways my husband’s family are big drinkers. Everyone drinks. While me and my husband drink we choose not to drink around the kids. If we are going somewhere we would like to drink we get a babysitter. For a year now we take the kids to family functions but everyone gets so drunk I don’t want my kids when they get a little older to ask why grandma is past out. How do I approach the in-laws about such a peronal matter. I guess what I would like is for a kid party to be a kids party and an adult party to be an adult party. I realize this conversation may be more hurtful than helpful to our relationships but I don’t want my kids growing up like this.
