Drinking and Marriage?

Question by : Drinking and marriage?
My brother and his wife have been married for three years now. About a year ago, after she had their son, she started drinking a beer every night after she would go to bed. My brother is afraid of her becoming an alcoholic, so he requested that his wife stop with the beer a day and she did without a fight. She hasn’t had a beer in over a month now, and yesterday he told me that ever since she’s stopped having her one beer a day, she’s become very depressed. He says that she’s still really nice to him and everything but just generally not very enthused with life. He said she told him it feels like she has nothing to look forward to anymore because that “one beer at the end of the day” was what got her THROUGH her day.
I didn’t know what to say. I kind of wanted to tell him to just let her have her one beer a day if it’s what makes her feel happy and human but I don’t want to pick her side over my brother’s!
Is he wrong for making her stop or is she wrong for becoming this way after she stopped?

i don’t think a beer a day is soo bad, but I do think this woman is depressed and self-medicating. i think she should see someone about depression. she may be struggling after having a child.
