Ok, so, I’m trying to throw a surprise b-day party for my husband. I’ve already booked the band & location. I’m just not sure what should happen @ the party! It’s going to be @ a local pub, w/alcohol. $ 5 cover charge. Should I provide food? Thought about a cake but don’t know exactly how may people are going to be there. Should I have some kind of lttle game to play b/w breaks of the band?? The party is in Feb, so I still have a little time! Thanks to all who can help!
The reason for the cover charge is for the band….not for our own personal gain! I believe since the band is playing, THEY deserve to be paid! I want the party to just be a get together of mingling, music, dancing, & fun. I’m not sure about anywhere else, but where we’re from, NO ONE expects drinks to be bought for them, considering a couple hundred people will probably be attending! I guess I should have never asked such a question….considering most people answering probably live in some city & doesn’t understand the concept of how many people will be coming to a party such as this!

Hmmm, you’re throwing a party and booked a band and a location. Yet you still expect your guests to pay a cover charge? And you think you might buy a cake to feed your guests? It’s a party! If I were invited to a party I would HOPE that the host/hostess would not expect me to foot the bill for food & drink on top of buying a birthday gift. What kind of celebration is that?! How about buying a few rounds of beer and put pitchers on the tables? Are you renting out the entire pub for the evening? Add a small buffet table for snacks and cake. If you’re planning on making this a special party, then you you actually need to spend a bit of money. If you were looking for cheap, then plan on a party at your home.
