I also have a dog that is on Heartgard. I was once told that the hartwarm won’t show up in tests on cats. Is this true?
But I also know that if you give a dog with hertworm a heartworm pill, It will have very serious side effects. Is it the same for cats?
I am going to talk to my vet about this on Monday. I just wanted to know something about this before I go.

I took my kitty to the vet when he was having bad coughing spasms. He said it was probably asthma or heartworm, but that it was probably just asthma because heartworm is rare in cats. He said they do blood tests to find out if they do have heartworm.
