Alcohol Abuse Drugs: How Are These Drugs So Powerful?
Question by Garrett Colón: How Are These Drugs So Powerful?
The passing of actor Cory Monteith has had me thinking very hard lately. What exactly is it about heroin (and similar drugs) and alcohol that combine to create enough power to take a life? I’m not familiar with any of the “serious drugs” out there – I’ve only ever associated myself with marijuana. What is it about this stuff that kills? What effect does heroin have the human body that causes it to shut down the body like a simple light switch?

It really had me thinking myself… So i’ve really took it upon myself since the pass few days of his passing to understand. Heroin attacks your heart which can make you have a heart attack. Not only that but heroin slows down the central nervous system. In addition, it can cause lung failure. Your brain basically stops sending signals for your heart or lungs to stop, which can cause you to die. Here is a link that exactly tells you what happen to Cory and how heroin can kill people.
