DEPRESSION. Behavioural Signs of Depression

Hello, my name is Rod Morgan of The Stress Workshop.com and I am living proof that you can overcome depression.

In the last severe economic recession of the 1990s I progressively became very depressed over a long five year period. Now though, I have turned my life around. I have come back, am really enjoying my life again, and have been doing so for many years.

Nowadays one of my real passions in life is helping other people to overcome their feelings of stress, anxiety and depression too. But before we look at how you can achieve the same thing, let us just look at one or two of the signs and symptoms of depression and, in this particular case, the behavioural signs and symptoms.

Some of the behavioural signs of depression include such things as –

– Difficulties at home and in the family life. When a person is feeling depressed it obviously can impact upon the people around them in a truly negative way

– Not performing well at work. This can easily add fuel to the fire of depression of course and really compound the issue.

– Avoiding contact with others, feeling isolated, taking part in fewer social activities and not taking part in hobbies and interests

– Also, in some cases, an increased use of alcohol and / or drugs

In other articles in this series we will be looking at the physical and the psychological symptoms of depression.
