Chlortrimazole will do absolutely nothing for a cold sore, sorry.
It’s an anti-fungal and only good on things like athlete’s foot or the various forms of “crotch rot” (fungal infections of the genital areas which cause rash and irritation).
Cold sores are actually a mild form of Herpes infection which means you can only treat the symptoms and wait for the sore to go away. The most common medication for the treatment of cold sores is Orajel. Orajel numbs the area, relieving the pain… but you still have to wait for the sore to go away on it’s own.
