I’m curious. For those diagnosed or very sure*…
How old were you when you first showed symptoms?
How old were you when you were diagnosed or sought help?
How many family members do you believe have this disorder?
I ask for the “very sure” because psychologists have been hesitant to diagnose me; they were older and quite wary of that territory. I’ve been told that NOT treating it might have more benefit than living with the stigma of diagnosis. “If you suffer from it, you hide it well. That’s high-functioning bpd. Why mess with a good thing?” Now, how would you like an untreated borderline nurse working on/with you?
