Know More about Monsoon Fever
There are three types of dengue fever. First is classical dengue fever that can be cured by normal treatment. Some of its symptoms are feeling sudden cold followed by high fever, headache, pain in muscles, throat, joints and eyes, extreme weakness, loss of appetite and feeling capricious. Light pink rashes also appear on the face, neck and chest. This type of fever is curable within five to seven days.
Dengue shock syndrome is characterized by symptoms of classical dengue fever along with a state of shock. Patient feels a lot of nervousness and the skin appears to be cold despite having high fever. Patient begins to loose his or her consciousness slowly and the pulse rates becomes fast and slow at the same time. Blood pressure drops drastically.
If a patient is suffering from classical dengue fever, then the treatment can be given at home. After the recommendation of doctor, certain medicines can be administered to the patient. In such cases, aspirin should not be given to the patient for the reason that it can lower the platelets of a patient. The affected person must take adequate amount of rest and should eat light food.
Every patient of dengue need not be administered platelets which need to be done only in advanced cases of dengue fever.
Malaria occurs due to the presence of a particular parasite known as plasmodium that is transmitted through the bite of female anopheles mosquito that develops in filthy water. This mosquito generally bites after sunset. The breeding period of this mosquito is between July and November. Symptoms of malaria are high fever, headache, body ache, vomiting, feeling of giddiness and weakness.
Swine flu is a malady related to respiratory tract of the body which occurs due to influenza virus of ‘A’ type. This virus is commonly known by the name of H1N1 virus. There is a difference between the virus of normal flu and swine flu. Virus of swine flu contains genetic material, which is also found in birds, pigs and human beings.
Whenever a person coughs or sneezes then on any surface including air, particles emanating from saliva or mucous from nose comes into contact with virus present in the environment. Later on the infected particles through the medium of air enters into the body of a person. If an infected person touches anything, that too gets infected with H1N1 virus.
Symptoms of swine flu in children are difficulty in breathing, skin turning blue in colour, child not drinking enough water, feeling of loneliness creeping in a child and appearance of rashes along with fever.
