I didn’t know we lived in a country that punishes people for being sick. If drug abuse is an illness, why is the possession of 5 oxycodones punishable by 20 years in the pen in Florida?

Because public intoxication doesn’t mean you’re an alcoholic. Nor does it mean it’s acceptable, sick or not.
