An inpatient alcohol rehab facility is a facility where the alcoholic lives for a specific length of time. There is no chance of backsliding because an inpatient facility does not allow drugs or alcohol on the premises and the addict is not allowed to leave. These facilities usually house addicts for 30 to 45 days.
The alcoholic is placed in the alcohol rehab facility and undergoes detox under the supervision of the staff there. Once the detox has been accomplished, the alcoholic then starts to learn how to live life without alcohol. There are programs that may use prescriptions to help the alcoholic through the initial detox but that is dependant on the type of facility they chose to attend.
There will then be sessions that involve reaching the alcoholic and getting to the bottom of his condition. The alcoholic may follow a 12-step program or any other program that the facility of his choice offers.
The outpatient alcohol rehab facility is a place for alcoholics to go for help but they don’t reside there. There are therapy sessions and counselors available for all of their recovery needs. An outpatient program is utilized when the addict still performs all of his activities in life and has the opportunity to go there to work though his problems. An outpatient facility puts all of the responsibility on the alcoholic to choose not to drink or drink if he wishes.
Long tern alcohol rehab facilities are centers that allow the addict to live in the facility for a period of 3 to 9 months. The alcoholic is put through the detox before beginning the treatment plan to allow him the time to recover from the withdrawal. This is a very structured and successful program for those who need more intensive care and training to overcome their addiction.
Residential alcohol rehab facilities are places where an addict’s family is welcome to join him as he battles his condition. Some facilities allow the addict to work and he may have frequent or random drug testing to make sure he is staying clean during his stay. These alcohol rehab facilities offer residence for various amounts of time and usually end after a full year.
