Cycle Of Addiction

Breaking the Life Cycle of Addiction is Possible

Addiction has a very distinct life cycle. At the root of addiction, are addicts experiencing emotional or physical pain. Maybe some addicts have had a death in the family, a rejection by a lover, or a debilitating injury that causes chronic pain. Most addicts are basically good people who have trouble dealing with the difficulties of life. They may be unable deal with the problem, and possibly see their present situation as hopeless. The major difference between addicts and non-addicts is that addicts will use drugs or alcohol to deal with life’s problems.

Depression, Obsession and the Cycle of Addiction

As the addiction grows, the addict will begin to conceal their drug use from loved ones. Overcome by guilt, the addict may start to withdraw from family and friends. Addicts may often become belligerent and start to behave oddly. Once addicted, addicts will often sacrifice anything in order to continue using drugs or alcohol. Family and friends, jobs, savings, etc.; nothing is considered going too far. Getting and using more drugs or alcohol is now the most vital thing in the addict’s life.

The “Drug Personality”

There is such a thing as a “drug personality.” This personality is artificial and is created by the continued use of drugs. The addict’s personality may change drastically to one secretly harboring hostilities and hatreds they do not permit to show on the surface.

People who display a drug personality may:

* Show mood swings
* Prove to be unreliable
* Fail to finish projects
* Have unexpressed resentment and secret hatreds
* Be dishonest and lie to family, friends and employers
* Isolate themselves and withdraw from those who love him
* Appear depressed
* Begin stealing from family and friends

The craving is an extremely powerful urge and can cause the addict to rationalize why they should continue using drugs or alcohol; even if the addicts really wants to stop. The addict is now in the vicious cycle of addiction: trying to quit, craving, fear of withdrawal, relapse.

Treatment Focused on Breaking the Cycle of Addiction

Traditional drug and/or alcohol addiction treatment focuses mainly on spiritual talk therapy, while the addiction’s underlying physiology is never addressed. Modern, more effective treatments like Ibogaine and/or Ibogaine treatment are designed to focus on correcting the neurological imbalances caused by substance abuse. Preexisting imbalances are the direct cause of addiction and if left untreated, lead directly to relapse. If you or a loved one is in need of addiction treatment, it is highly recommended you research Ibogaine and/or Ibogaine treatment to see if it is right for you.
