I’m Scared That I’ll Be an Alcoholic One Day?
Question by Hobbes: I’m scared that I’ll be an alcoholic one day?
This may seem kind of odd but I’m only 15. I don’t drink but I have, both my parents struggle with alcoholism as well as everyone in my family. When I did drink before, I sometimes missed school either because I had a hangover or my parents had a hangover and couldn’t take me. Although I’ve witnessed my families struggles with alcohol and I even used to go to AA meetings with my mom when I was 3 because she couldn’t find a babysitter, I still have a fear that I will be an alcoholic one day. I am very strong for my age because I always had to “parent” my parents and I never really got to be a kid. I just feel like one day it will all crash and I will break down, I just need advice on how to not give up and stay strong. I also want to be film director and artist so if I were to ever be famous I know it would be even harder to resist alcohol, that’s why I’m scared.
