My Wife Has Forbidden Me From Seeing My Gay Best Friend, What Should a Christian Man’s Reaction Be?

Question by : My wife has forbidden me from seeing my gay best friend, what should a Christian man’s reaction be?
First of all, I am not even going to lie! When my gay best friend Raymond is in town we get c-r-a-z-y! We usually shop till we drop, then we put on our tight jeans and V-neck t-shirts and head downtown to dance to electronic music all night long! And I admit, when Ray-Ray is around, I can get a little “catty.”

That said, I don’t think it is fair that my wife has forbidden me from associating with Ray-Ray. Before I married my wife, she and Ray-Ray were the best of friends (in fact, I used to get a bit jealous of Ray-Ray for spending so much time with my girl! – they are both French and share of love of fine wines), but now she says Ray-Ray is a “bad influence on the family,” and “an alcoholic.”

Ray-Ray lives in San Francisco, so I only get to see him once or twice a year, but I really look forward to those visits (we have so much fun)! On the other hand, I am married, and we just had our little daughter, Elodie, and I would not want her exposed to anything untoward.

Ray-Ray called me last night, and I just ignored it. I felt terrible.

I don’t know what to do! Should I respect my wife’s wishes, or say “Esme, you don’t own me!”?

BTW: Ray-Ray and I have never had gay sex, we have only shared friendly kisses. Besides, Ray-Ray does not like black men, and says “the only thing a black bull is good for is carrying me home after I drink too much!” (he is so funny!) – and my wife knows this.

Any advice would be so helpful, thanks.
