Signs of Heart Attack Women Should Know
Signs of heart attack women should know
Heart disease is considered a mans disease. It was not long ago that women were considered to be immune to heart attacks. Unfortunately this is not true. Since that time there have been some studies which include women. These studies tell us that the signs of heart attack woman have are the same as with a man but the way a woman interprets them is different.
With a woman as with a man about 70% will have chest pain, pressure, or just discomfort, but the other 30% may experience
:Shortness of breath
Nausea
Vomiting
Upset stomach
Although women may experience any signs of a heart attack so it is important to be familiar with all the signs of a heart attack.
Younger women have a greater risk of death during an attack then does a man so if you want to lower your risk of a premature death then you should do two things.
1. learn the signs of a heart attack
Learning what to watch for is important for improving your chance of survival by allowing you time to get to a hospital for care. Once you arrive at a hospital you can communicate better with the hospital staff knowing what signs you are feeling and what you believe is the cause of them.
2. Reduce the risk of developing heart disease.
This is as important as knowing what to watch for. They say that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound cure. So know the risk factors of developing heart disease.the three main factors are:
1. Obesity
Women with a BMI of 32 or higher have twice the chance of suffering from some form of heart disease. If you need to lower your BMI then start to make the proper lifestyle choices. Be careful what your eat and when.
2. Smoking
Younger women who smoke have a greater chance of dying during a heart attack then do men who smoke. This is the fastest way to reduce your risk. Your body immediately begins to de-detoxify itself the minute you stop smoking. Your oxygen levels return to normal, your taste bubs improve and the levels of carbon monoxide in your system goes down. All within a week of quitting. If you need another good reason to stop smoking you can add “to reduce the risk of a heart attack” to your list
3. Sedentary Lifestyle
Become more physically active. Whether that means walking, gardening, vigorous house cleaning, or any other activity which will get you moving more. Stop watching the tube so much and learn how to dance or join an aerobics class. If you are moderatly active you will reduce your risk of a heart attack by half.
If you keep these things in mind and work towards eliminating them from your life and if you see a health care provider at least yearly you should live a full and healthy life. Although there are no guaranties when it comes to suffering a heart attack it does make sense to lower your risk as best you can.
