Joe Medici The Chronicle-Telegram A car accident off of Abbe Road sent a local man to the hospital and destroyed a row of landscaping at the UAW 2000 meeting hall. Terry Hines Jr., 20, was driving southbound on Abbe Road at 1:50 pm Thursday when he lost control of his father’s 1968 Chevrolet Impala and ran into an about 3-foot tall stone enclosed landscaping bank on the side of the UAW hall, according to Sheffield Village Police Captain Larry Bliss. The car balanced atop the stone embankment as police questioned Hines, Bliss said, but he was transported to St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake to be treated for a large cut on his face. Hines was discharged from the hospital before 5 pm “We still need to speak with him more to finish our investigation,” Bliss said. “It should be finished up Friday.” Bliss said he and another officer concurred that they did not detect any signs of alcohol or other drugs that could have been involved in the incident, but that they would continue to investigate. Hines’ driver’s license was suspended in April after he failed to appear in court for DUI and reckless driving charges he received July 2004.
