What Should I Do About My Dad?

Question by Kayla: What should I do about my dad?
My dad is an alcoholic. He sometimes has his good days, and sometimes has his bad. I wouldn’t say he is abusive, but he talks behind everyone’s back, and can be really rude. He jokes a lot, most of the time he is kidding but sometimes you are not to sure. Tonight me and my brother were arguing about children and them asking the question why. I personally don’t think anything of it, I mean thye are children, you CANNOT do anything about it. My dad interveined, and looked right at me, and said:

” I am not going to lie, you were a lot worse than your brother as a child. You were very annoying, you always asked the question. I was told by mom that I could not talk back, yell, or swear at you guys, but Fu ck Kayla, you were annoying. I would mow the lawn, but sometimes I would lie, and just sit outside so I didn’t have to deal with you.”

Maybe I am being a child, and being a baby, but what do you think about this statement? I cannot talk to my dad, because he is basically a grown up child, you can’t say anything wrong to him, because he will pout, and not talk to you for the rest of the night.. What can I do?

I’m so sorry Kayla,
Try not taking it too hard because you seem like a wonderful person and your dad doesn’t know any better.
Just walk forward with your head held high and be confident. Try learning to stand up for yourself, so he can’t hurt you any more.
I’m really sorry for you, I really am. Stay strong girl :)
