Signs of a Functioning Alcoholic: What Is Wrong With Me?? HELP!!?

Recently I have noticed I feel really uncomfortable when I am around my mother. She is an alcoholic and has been most of my life. I have noticed when I was younger I have always had a somewhat unnatural attachment to her I don’t know why. I have had to deal with everything that comes along with having an alcoholic for a mother. She has woken me up in the middle of the night screaming at me, I have heard her and my father having sex and saw them doing it twice. I found her naked and had to put her in her room all when I was younger. I mean my sleep at night was always interrupted cause for whatever reason I always felt she was gone so I would go looking for her frantically.These are just a few of the things I have dealt with growing up with an alcoholic mother. I feel very uneasy around her and tense and just all around strange I am 31 I remember her drinking from a very young age at least 8. I just cannot explain why I have these feelings like almost out of the blue. I have no known recollection of her or my father molesting me. I just don’t understand what is going on, can anyone offer some insight please only respond with comments that make sense.

perhaps you’re worried about her, but in a different way. or maybe you’re afraid that by being around her you’ll become like her. just continue to care for your momma like always, and things should get better.
