I Have a Really Huge, Weird Question About Reverse Psychology? Please, No Rude Feedback?
Question by Samantha: I have a really huge, weird question about reverse psychology? Please, no rude feedback?
I’m a fifteen year old sophomore in high school, and my friend’s mom is 49, and is going through a severe, serious case of a midlife crisis, but it’s turned her completely insane.
When she was younger, she drank alcohol a lot, smoked pot and cigarettes, and was just completely care free. She is an alcoholic, but she quit drinking 10 years ago, and quit smoking pot 6 years ago, never quit smoking, and studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses for 20 years, but was never baptized, even though she wanted to be. She became overweight when she stopped drinking and smoking pot.
Just this past year, she has went into a midlife crisis. She became obsessed with losing weight, lost a ton of weight, and wont stop. She started to force her kids to eat completely healthy, and I know that sounds healthy, but she over-does it. She doesn’t give them a choice. She became obsessed with music, especially music that teens hear today, and is on Facebook all the time, and always has music going and is always doing something that requires moving. She relapsed, and drank alcohol in October, and drank again two times last month (but I think that has to do with her craving sugar, because she completely cut out sugar of her diet).
She also recently stated that she wants to look like a babe, and posted a picture of a babe on Facebook, mind you, she studied with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and has a husband, and I said
“Why do you want to look like a babe?”, and she said,
“DUHHHH”, and I said,
“Uhh, DUHHHH nothing, dearie! You’ve got a husband and values.”, and she said,
“Nahhh. :D” That had me worried.
The question is, would using reverse psychology work? I know this sounds crazy for myself, but I swear, with her, it would scare her. Would walking into her house with a tank top showing my chest and wearing a short skirt with high heels on and carrying a pack of cigarettes and have a bottle of alcohol (with just water in the bottle) work, as far as reverse psychology goes? Again, I know how crazy that sounds, but it just might work. What are your thoughts?
