Athelete’s Foot and its Treatment

Athlete’s foot or tinea pedis is skin infection that caused by pathogen fungi. Foot is more affect by fungi because they always wet and moist warm environment. Symptoms of athlete’s foot are burning sensation, itching, redness, scaling, cracked and blistering. Athlete’s food infection is difficult to cure and often recur.

Treatment:

1.    One of the oldest and most trusted home remedies is apple cider vinegar. This valuable product has been heavily relied upon throughout the ages to prevent and alleviate a number of ailments. It helps alkalize the body and is rich in potassium, which supports cell growth. Throughout history apple cider vinegar has been used to treat earaches, infections, arthritis, and as an aid in digestion.

2.    Baking soda can be applied into the infected area. Just add some water until it has a pasty texture. Rubbing it into the infected skin will help improve the condition.

3.    Rubbing alcohol: It is prepared from a special denaturized alcohol solution and contains 97.5-100 percent by volume of pure, concentrated ethanol (ethyl alcohol). It is used as an antiseptic against fungi. Topical application of rubbing alcohol, after bathing, over the affected area will aid the killing of fungi on the surface of the skin. Additionally, soaking the feet in water consisting of 70 percent rubbing alcohol will help in drying the skin and kill the fungus.

4.    Cinnamon. Bring to boil water ( around 4 cups), then add in eight to ten cinnamon sticks that are have been broken. Lower heat and simmer for about five minutes. Remove from heat and set aside for a few minutes to cool off, and soak in your feet on this mixture. Cinnamon works very effectively on fungal infections.

5.    A good treatment for athlete’s foot is to pour Listerine on it. There are many ways to get rid of the troublesome foot fungus such as an application of Listerine on a cotton pad and applying it to your feet twice a day. (An alternative is to use the vinegar method and soak your feet two times daily in Listerine, but this might be a little costly!) Once you have rubbed the Listerine on your foot, you do not need to rinse it off. Afterward, be sure to dry foot off completely. Applying Listerine in this manner as a remedy for athlete’s foot is harmless for youngsters and adults alike.

6.    You have to keep your shoes dry as well as your socks. This is tough when you’re on your feet all day, so it is important to change your socks throughout the day to keep things dry.
