Alcoholism Rehabilitation: Medical Questions, Gum Sore and Auto-Immune Problems?
Question by Debbie Kromer: Medical Questions, gum sore and auto-immune problems?
About 20 yrs ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Since that time I have developed gout in my left knee, Dupuytrens’ in both hands and possibly my feet. I have also been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis of the skin, (they pulled a quarter size lump out of my arm). I had to have all my teeth pulled and before I could start implants I developed a white sore in my lower jaw. There was a biopsy and they checked for 3 different conditions, all negative. This sore is extremely painful and none of the pain or other meds have made any difference. I am now waiting to see a oral pathologist, after seeing a dentist 2 myofascial specialists and neurologist. My Primary wants a cat scan on my lower jaw and neck. This has been going on for about 5 mo. now and I’m getting desperate. Also, I wonder my body seems to come up with a new condition on a regular basis. Any suggestions are greatly apppreciated.

If your white sore is a aphthous ulcer, otherwise known as a cancer sore, 1000mcg of sublingual vitamin B12 daily is an effective remedy >>>
“However, the duration of outbreaks, the number of ulcers, and the level of pain were reduced significantly at five and six months of treatment with vitamin B12, regardless of initial vitamin B12 levels in the blood. During the last month of treatment a significant number of participants in the intervention group reached ‘no aphthous ulcers status’ (74.1% vs 32.0%; P < .01)." >>>http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/02/090210092732.htm
It is now known that there is a clear connection between vitamin B12 deficiency and fibromyalgia. The clinical features of fibromyalgia syndrome and hypothyroidism are virtually the same and also fibromyalgia and thyroid disease often go together. Vitamin D deficiency can have the exact same symptoms as fibromyalgia also leading to misdiagnosis. The onset of fibromyalgia has also been associated with psychological distress, trauma, and infections such as Epstein-Barr Virus. Epstein Barr Virus can be reactivated by a thyroid imbalance. Anyone diagnosed with fibromyalgia should be tested for a thyroid condition and vitamin D deficiency. A higher thyroid antibody level will diagnose an autoimmune thyroid condition – hashimoto’s thyroiditis (autoimmune hypothyroidism). Thyroid resistance can also occur with fibromyalgia.
“We find that approximately 75% of euthyroid [normal thyroid results] FMS patients markedly improve or completely recover when treated with what we term “metabolic rehabilitation.” The treatment involves the use of T3 [thyroid medication], exercise to tolerance, wholesome diet, nutritional supplements, physical treatment, and cessation of the use of metabolism-impeding medications.”

If i had to name one condition that could be possibly linked to your conditions, it would be hypothyroidism. Most cases of hypothyroidism is autoimmune – hashimoto’s thyroiditis. This does have a genetic link and the genes are triggered and turned on by various factors from deficiencies to environmental factors. Deficiencies commonly seen with hypothyroidism include iron, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, potassium.
Either way, helping the immune system can only be of benefit. Vitamins and minerals essential for a good immune response>>> Vitamins A, B6, folate, B12, C, D, E, selenium, zinc, copper, and iron.
