What Are the Chances of a Second Heart Attack?

Question by Twinklebell ?MJ Fan 4 life?: What are the chances of a second heart attack?
I’m shaken up today..cos my dad had a mild heart attack, it was so shocking and completely unexpected. He is smoker and does drink alcohol but he is so fit, young and the nicest guy. We are ecstatic he is stable but I want to prevent this from happening again. I want to know what are the chances of recurrence and what we can do from preventing from happening again.

High blood pressure that is undiagnosed is one of them
Does he eat well?
Also if it runs in your family then that is something you have no control over but will influence his chances of having another one
Just because he exercises well doesnt make him healthy if he smokes and doesnt eat right, AND drinks
Those are some risky behaviors that could cause another heart attack or even a stroke. Hopefully he received medical attention as soon as his symptoms started.
Make sure he takes an aspirin a day from now on and takes all of the medications (such as high blood pressure meds) from the doc when he gets them regularly
Also stress could have played a role in this situation
You being his daughter will play a big role in his healthy lifestyle. Let him know how much he means to you and Im sure he will start thinking about that when he smokes or when he starts to drink again
