I have known guys who have drank every day of their lives (getting drunk btw) and are still going strong .
Look at the likes of Shane Macgowan ( a man who should have died with alcoholism many years ago ) and Keith Richards , yet their still here and more to the point continue to work.
So what do you think it is ? Genetics? Diet? or downright luck ?
