Alcoholism Signs
Addiction to alcohol is known as alcoholism and is a growing problem among the old and the young alike. If you live with a person who is an addict, then you must find it very hard trying to talk anything sensible with them. Alcohol affects one’s judgment and response levels to the extent that they become irresponsible and non-relational. It is therefore very important for you to look out for alcoholism signs that could be an indication of addiction. This way, you will be able to help such a person before they lose themselves to alcohol completely.
Alcohol dependence causes one to feel euphoric and good about themselves. This is what makes many addicts argue that they only work best under the influence of this drink. They argue that this is the way they are able to deal with tension, stress, emotional and financial problems.
The first sign that you should look out for is drinking in isolation and denial of addiction. The reason for this is because they do not want to be associated with this bad habit. Guilty conscience is what disturbs them the most. To compensate for this, they become aggressive and violent. As time progresses, you will find that an alcoholic will increase the amount of alcohol they drink to get the euphoric effect.
Physical alcoholism signs to look out for include blood shot eyes, swollen face, tremors and slurred speech. The person is also likely to complain of pain in the liver which could be an indication of liver cirrhosis, a condition that makes the liver not to function properly. Disease, irresponsibility and withdrawal by the addict will eventually lead to family problems, financial challenges and even breakups.
