Harvey the Harlequin
“Harvey the Harlequin”, adapted from Shane Durgee’s “Harley the Harlequin Fetus”, was filmed in the summer of 2005. Set in Killeen, Texas, just outside of Ft. Hood, this disturbing story follows the events surrounding the birth of Harvey, who happens to have the rare and horrifying congenital birth defect commonly known as “Harlequin Fetus”. Harvey’s mother, Amanda, is a raging alcoholic, but doesn’t let her advanced stage of pregnancy get in the way of her love of binge-chugging Everclear straight from the bottle. Harvey’s father, Oliver, has recently been discharged from the US Army after a deployment to Iraq. As the CEO of Lussier-Bales Corporation, Oliver struggles to overcome the emotional challenges that arise from his need to balance his career, his wife’s alcoholism, and his son’s devastating illness. Along with their family physician, the eccentric Doctor Anthropophoginian, his mentally handicapped son and assistant, Edward, and a host of other unusual personalities, Amanda and Oliver soon find themselves in the midst of an epic struggle pitting bizarre against even more bizarre.
