Inside the erythrocyte, merozoite de-differentiates into several morphological forms before undergoing multiple binary divisions (erythrocytic schizogony) producing 8-36 new merozoites that burst from the host cell, thus causing symptoms of malaria. This animation delineates the life cycle of Plasmodium inside human host till the appearance of malaria symptoms.
