Q&A: Is My Friend a Douche for Intoxicating a Girl and Taking Advantage of Her?
Question by hunter849: Is my friend a douche for intoxicating a girl and taking advantage of her?
My friend, “Anthony,” has a pregnant wife who was away visiting her parents. One night, he took our friend, “Karen,” out for drinks. Karen’s was going thru a lot: her parents had both committed suicide within months of each other, and her grandfather had died of a stroke. She had lost her job and was very depressed and fast became an alcoholic.
Anthony got her extremely intoxicated (despite knowing better, b/c he himself said that she “has a drinking problem,” and that “she’s an alcoholic,” and later called her a “who.re”) and slept with her.
She trusted him and felt he was one of her best friends and he kept saying,”Just do this for me? Just do it with me once, please? I’ve been a great friend to you. Just once, please?”
Karen was not attracted to Anthony, but he ended up sleeping with her when she was at her lowest point. It is something she now regrets.
How do I confront Anthony and tell him he is a douchebag for intoxicating and taking advantage of a friend who was at a low point in her life and the last thing she needed was a man -a friend- giving her alcohol and taking advantage of her?
