News 12 Covers Sen. Klein’s Efforts to Stop Four Loko Sales to Minors

17 Bronx stores found selling Four Loko to minors (03/27/11) THE BRONX – An undercover operation has revealed 17 stores in the Bronx are selling Four Loko and other alcoholic drinks to minors. The investigation has been endorsed by state Senator Jeff Klein (D-The Bronx), who says stores have a responsibility to make sure anyone under 21 cannot purchase alcohol, especially in the case of Four Loko, which Klein says is marketed towards young people. “We have problems in making sure that young people don’t have access to alcohol,” Klein said. Klein has introduced legislation to ban the sale of caffeinated alcoholic beverages in New York. The legislation is expected to be voted on by the State Senate’s Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Committee next week.
