Get Off that Bar Stool and Quit Drinking Pt. 2
If your current level of drinking has started to make you feel ashamed then it’s time to get off that bar stool and face your problem face-to-face. You’re not alone in your battle with alcoholism and many face the same problems as you do. Even if you don’t consider yourself to be an alcoholic, there are many physical and psychological benefits to quitting drinking. If you’re ready to kick the habit, here is a list of some basic steps to follow.
5. Clear out your kitchen of everything that reminds you of drinking. Even take the time to revise recipes that require cooking wine. And throw out drinking memorabilia such as plastic cups you drank beer in at a sporting event.
6. Purchase a new wallet and every time you feel the urge to purchase a bottle or head to the bar, place the money you would have likely spent into the new wallet. After a few months you’ll be shocked at all of the money you’ve saved up. Then reward yourself with a shopping spree, a spa day or a yoga class package.
7. In addition to dropping the alcohol habit, start making other healthy choices. Start eating fresh fruit and vegetables and start drinking lots and lots of water.
8. If you want additional support, join Alcoholics Anonymous. This group has helped literally millions of people across the country. Having a supportive group of people who are or have gone through the same thing can really make a huge difference.
