He was part of the American Romantic movement and considered the creator of the detective-fiction genre. Poe was known for his mysterious, fictional tales, short stories, and poems. He led a tumultuous life of being orphaned, adopted as a foster-child, living in England for five years, estrangement with his foster-father, dropping out of college, prematurely leaving the army, getting court-martialed out of West Point, early demise of his young wife-cousin, alcoholism, and finally his untimely death at age 40.We have included five volumes of The Works of Edgar Allan Poe, which contain over 100 short stories and poems.
