The human body is a dynamic and complex factory. The product of this factory is energy, movement, mental focus, and human relationship collaboration.
Our fitness goal is to lean out and reduce the variance in our eating patterns and create efficiencies with our raw materials (food) inputs give our bodies an environment to produce our life’s product of energy and vitality.
How do we order, store, inventory, or deliver our raw materials (food) to our human factories? Our plants needs raw material daily. Do we procur our materials throughout the day? Or do we purchase in bulk, store, inventory, and carry with us? And in what quanity? Do we try and procur the highest quality or best price raw materials? Or do we settle for wholesale bargain basement materials?
When our factory goes mobile, do we plan for our normal raw materials to accompany us or do we accept the raw materials that our friends and co-workers have shelved and stocked?
Breaking down our eating patterns into a planning process, similiar to planning for the production of a high quality consumer product will help us eliminate waste and reduce the variance of our eating patterns.
Have we ever questioned the 2000 year old dogma of feeding our bodies 3 large loads, 3 times per day, with numerous snacks inserted in between each meal?
What if our machines work better with smaller raw material portions delivered more times throughout the day? Yes, delivering smaller quanities more times per day, creates the need for a detailed raw materials plan. In the workplace we have jobs specifically tailored for planning. We need to utilize the same scheduling mastery in our personal feeding plans.
We are born with million dollar minds and bodies yet sometimes treat our valuable assets like dollar store discounts. We plan our pet feedings with more consideration than we plan our own daily food intake.
Therefore, let’s start our raw material food project today. We know our bodies and our specific hunger patterns. Most people will be hungry six to eight times tomorrow.
Plan accordingly. Plan for at least 3 meals and 3 snacks. Plan, acquire, and store your feedings (raw materials) the night before and purchase in bulk on the weekends.
When your factory goes mobile, such as going to work, take your raw materials with you in a backpack or cooler lunch box. In your lunchbox you will need a morning snack, a mid day meal, and an afternoon snack.
Plan for your drinks also. You will be thirsty twice the rate of your hunger. Include water. Include water flavored with various nutritional powders. Do not rely on your work place to provide quality snacks. You must feed your factory with the raw materials that fit your specific factory machines. No one else, especially your employer, cares about your specific factory assembly line.
Remember, every day, for the rest of your life, you are going to be hungry at least six times during the day. Plan for your hunger and plan on inputting quality raw materials into your feeding processes.
Additionally, your machines will need fluids 12 times during the day. Plan for your thirst. Do not wait until thirst arrives and satisfy thirst with the closest soft drink. Our machines do not function properly when lubricated with soft drinks.
Cut back on the following. Binge alcohol drinking. Drinking too much alcohol causes a severe imbalance with your nutritional and machine needs. It’s called hangover. Not only do you loose the period you drank, you loose next 24 hours because your machines are working overtime trying to rid the toxic effects of alcohol.
Nobody is suggesting you stop drinking. How about just cutting back? Maybe try drinking smarter. If you drink for the buzz, then drink on an empty stomach. Two drinks and you are where you need to be. Just remember, after two drinks, it’s time to eat and you must plan for this meal.
Also cut out your home and work place desserts. Satisfy your sweet tooth with products that taste sweet, but are low in sugar and high in protein.
The protein will satiate your hunger desires for a longer period between your feedings.
In conclusion, we apply lean manufacturing principles to our company assembly lines with the precision of a military strike, yet refuse to plan the refueling of our own million dollar mind body factories.
Let’s begin applying the same committment to excellence that we apply in our work places to our personal nutritional plans and begin enjoying the fruits of a fitness lifestyle.
