this is for a class debate project, and i written it the morning of the presentation but my team didn’t go so i have another week to make some changes to it. the debate topic is ‘should gays be allowed to adopt’ and im on the opposing team(not by choice it was random) if anyone is offended, im sorry
topic:kids will be picked on
because children raised by gay and lesbian parents they will be a target for teasing and taunting by their peers. we all know that children are ruthless and will pick on anyone they can find. when another peer finds out that someone is being raised in a gay home, that will make them an even bigger target for ridicule and possibly even gay bashing; like being jumped, beaten, stabbed, or r@ped. the physical scares may heal but the emotional pain will last much longer. Such verbal and physical abuse from others can have emotional and mental strain. Under extreme stress like this will have deadly consequences. The child could form a brain tumor and have to undergo chemo therapy. the child could be so stressed they would commit violent crimes against others or themselves. some will turn to drugs or alcohol. some may even run away.
if gay and lesbian people are not allowed to adopt children, then it could save the lives of many.
i couldn’t find any “facts” as to why gay adoption is a bad thing so i went with an emotional point of view.
im exaggerating things in order to get people on my side. of course the winners get a better grade
