Signs of an alcoholic ? you need to know these

It is difficult to be dependent to a substance.  Alcoholism is one of them.  Alcoholics find it hard to stop drinking.  Their body craves for the substance and would give into it no matter what:  every bottle will be emptied to its last drop, sometimes scavenging for more before bed time.  What they go through is testing.  Here are some signs of an alcoholic that you may need to know.  You or someone you know might be going through this naively.

They can appear unkempt occasionally.  Alcohol drains the body of its fluid and nutrients.  This is easily manifested on the physical appearance.  No amount of make-up can cover the dryness of the skin or the drooping eyes.  To the moderately dependent alcoholic, they will forgo the upkeep of appearance and grooming.  They can go to work with wrinkled clothes and occasionally forget to bathe.

They drink exceedingly almost every day.  Since alcoholics are dependent to the substance, they have the addictive will to find a way to get their hands to a drink.  Their body is so dependent on the substance; they feel that they have to get a drink to go through their day to day functions.  Their day is shortened by the apparent need to drink at as early as noon.

They have reduced eating habits.  They believe that the drink is all they need and will forget about eating right.  They significantly lose weight and develop a pale-colored skin.  Since they are deprived of proper nutrition, this contributes to more health problems.

They are easily angered.  Since too much alcohol messes up the chemical balance of the brain, mental functions can also be affected.  They feel the need to be defensive when they feel like they are being confronted especially about their drinking habits.  They are easily offended and don’t really understand the reality that somebody is actually trying to help them out or are just concerned about their well-being.  Too much anger can lead to violence and that can even be more dangerous.

Look out for these signs if you know people who are associated with drinking excessively.  They need our help.
