Addiction Treatment Methods

Alcohol addiction treatment is a hard and difficult path but the fruits accrued by taking this cumbersome are more than sweet compensation for the difficulties involved. Getting into the habit of alcohol addiction takes only a little bit of time, but getting out of it is not so. Any person planning to kick the habit needs to understand this fact and prepare oneself to undergo the strenuous procedure.

Until several years ago, many people thought that alcoholism is an evil spirit induced habit and no scientific steps are successful against such supernatural elements. The superstitions hindered many from walking the path of rehabilitation. Substance Abuse Treatment and Schooling Is It Possible to Do It Simultaneously?

Substance Abuse Treatment and Schooling Is it Possible to do it Simultaneously?

In its presentation of America’s Drug Abuse Profile, the National Criminal Justice Reference Service or NCJRS (administered by the US Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs) found out that of the 12.8 million US residents with substance abuse cases, nearly 6% represent those coming from the age brackets 12 years old and above. This is around 768,000 teenagers who may have lost their chances of going to school.

According to the NCJRS, this number is not as alarming as the 25 million residents who were once drawn into the temptation of substance abuse. But then again, there is no reason for families to ignore these incidents. If you are a parent of a person seeking drug abuse treatment or alcohol abuse treatment, you may be concerned about your child’s schooling. Is there reason enough to make them stop from going to school? Or should you encourage them to continue with their educational path no matter what it takes?

Cardiac Arrhythmias – Definition, Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Cardiac arrhythmia is a group of conditions in which the electrical activity of the heart is irregular or is faster or slower than normal. Cardiac arrhythmias comprise any abnormality or pertubation in the normal activation sequence of the myocardium. Arrhythmias stem from several causes. The heart’s natural timekeeper—a small mass of special cells called the sinus node—can malfunction and develop an abnormal electrical impulse rate. CPR can prolong the survival of the brain in the lack of a normal pulse, but defibrillation is the intervention which is most likely to restore a more healthy heart rhythm. A slow rhythm, known as bradycardia (less than 60 beats/min), is usually not life threatening, but may cause symptoms. When it causes symptoms implantation of a permanent pacemaker may be needed. Either dysrhythmia requires medical attention to evaluate the risks associated with the arrhythmia. The signs and symptoms of cardiac arrhythmias can range from completely asymptomatic to loss of consciousness or sudden cardiac death.
