Signs and Symptoms of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction
Signs and Symptoms of Alcoholism and Drug Addiction
What are the real signs and symptoms of alcoholism and drug addiction? When do you cross the line between being a social drinker or drug user – or even an occasional substance abuser – to becoming a ‘full-blown’ addict or alcoholic?
The answer doesn’t lie in the ‘how much’ is consumed (even though that can often paint a fairly accurate picture), but rather in the after-effects or consequences of the drinking or using, which I’ll get to in a minute …
There also seems to be the mistaken perception that you have to be totally ‘down and out’ – just about living on the street – before you can be considered an addict. That just isn’t so. There are many people leading so-called ‘normal’ lives in steady jobs, with families etc. who are also drug addicts and alcoholics.
10 Signs That You’re an Alcoholic
10 Signs That You’re an Alcoholic
Anyone wondering about their level of drinking should be concerned simply because they’re wondering, and people without alcohol abuse problems very rarely have a second though about their level of use. Although many people can use alcohol even at high levels and never develop any serious complications from their use, a great many of us cannot, and drinking in excess and with frequency too often leads to alcohol abuse, and unfortunately to alcoholism.
The greater your score of yes answers the more concerned you need be. Answer each question honestly, and think about the implications of your score for your future health and happiness.

Alcoholism….what Are the “Early Signs”?
Question by brenda: Alcoholism….what are the “early signs”?
I have someone very dear to me that has started drinking…she has drank off and on for years…..no problem….stops drinking cold turkey even after she has reached a half case a day….but she has begun again, and something is “different” about her…she seems to worry about not having enough to drink on hand….especially on Saturdays….she will do anything to make sure she has something to drink on Sundays….Alcoholism does run in her family…is she at risk?….let me add that she has a very strong mind and CAN quit anything….drugs, cigarettes, and even alcohol….it’s just that this time….someting is different is all I can say

To me alcoholism boils down to one question. Does alcohol or whatever (gambling, drugs, shopping, coffee, sugar, etc)negatively effect your life in any way. And if it does, you need to quit. If it does not, enjoy. Simple?
