Question by fer real?: Why is the addictive drug called “alcohol” legal while a lot of other drugs are not?
I have read many times where alcohol is the most dangerous drug – but even if it’s not, it is still addictive & people overdose on it often (alcohol poisoning), and certainly it has caused more injuries & deaths from driving accidents than any other drug. Alcohol has been responsible for a lot of violence and murders: it has destroyed many families, and has caused many of it’s users to lose jobs among other things. It also causes liver damage and other health problems, and has withdrawal symptoms like other addictive drugs. I’m just wondering if anyone has any ideas about this?
…as far as controlling how much a person drinks, that is a good answer, but still, too many people cannot control how much they drink…and at the same time, I’ve known a lot of people who are satisified with just doing a little bit of a certain drug because they didn’t like to get too wasted, or in the case of speed, they knew if they took too much it would make them too nervous, so they just took a little.
I really have been wondering this for a long time, regardless of other drugs…it just seems that if it causes so many problems that it would be made illegal. I really don’t know that much about politics-I figured that it might be because of the money it brings to the government…but yet it costs the country so much financially as well as the cost of people’s lives if this were true…I suppose it could also be that a lot of the government officials are doing this drug also, and don’t want it to be outlawed.
