Are Traffic Violation Fines the Same for Bicycles?
Question by rondoggnuts: Are traffic violation fines the same for bicycles?
I was pulled over for disregarding a red light. I didn’t blow it outright. I stopped and waited but the sensor didn’t detect me, despite my thorough knowledge of how the sensors work, and I hardly ever have this problem. This intersection is right by my house and very familiar. So I decided to go through the red because my turn was skipped. I did it safely, if we can disregard the lights, that is.
Luckily for me, a cop saw me and pulled me over. He proceeded to reprimand me, citing how idiotic it was on a saturday night in an urban college town to make such a move. To be honest, I was more worried about DUI (which can lead to arrest and $ 250 fine max, but won’t effect driving record), but I remained polite and cordial, agreeing with his suggestions that I should have pushed the pedestrian button or waited for a car to trigger the sensor.
