Effects of Long Term Alcohol Abuse: Drinking to Numb the Pain, How Bad Will the Outcome Be?

Question by JoyBJay: Drinking to numb the pain, how bad will the outcome be?
When I was younger about 16 I would drink anytime I felt upset, i stopped for a while. But as of lately I have been drinking at least once a week I am 18. I just don’t see any other way to numb what is going on in life. Plus drinking kind of puts me out of mind. The only question I have is what is the long term effects if I stopped and started back up again.

Answer by Bewner Salad
One a week is fine. The reason for doing it is irrelevant, as long as you keep yourself under control and don’t “abuse” it or whatever people call getting drunk these days, too often. You’ll be ok, I get drunk like 3 times a week, and I’m not an alcoholic. People who say that stuff are ignorant, and should get out of your life, and people who say its bad for you don’t know what they’re talking about either. It’s just alcohol… so don’t worry.
