Tuberculosis is a lethal disease caused by a bacterium named Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Every year this disease takes 2 million lives from all around the world and this includes the developed countries too.

Many people have this bacterium inside their body but most of them do not have a manifest infection. Once the immune system is weakened the bacteria becomes active and so symptoms of the disease appear.

Not everyone develops this affection. The people at risk are those who have no homes, who live in crowded and unsanitary conditions, who were in prison, and who use drugs. The most affected ones are those who live in developing countries as the sanitary system in those countries is not well adjusted yet.

About Asperger Syndrome

This disorder was named after the Viennese paediatrician, Hans Asperger in 1940. He first described a group of behaviour patterns which were apparent in some of his patients, mostly males. He noticed that though these boys had normal language development and intelligence, they had impaired social skills, had poor co-ordination and could not communicate very effectively with others.

Tuberculosis is an infection caused by the Koch bacillus, also known as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, it primarily affects the lungs and it is contagious. Besides the lungs, TB can also affect lymph nodes, intestinal tract, kidneys, bones, and brain.

Tuberculosis is known to exist even before the year 2000BC, and writings from Egypt and Babylon mention it. Until the discovery of the antibiotic treatment and of the BCG vaccine, TB made a lot of victims during a global epidemic.

There are some germs belonging to the Mycobacterium family, referred to as atypical tuberculosis. Generally these organisms live among other germs in the body and do not cause any harm, but sometimes they can lead to an infection or even to the typical tuberculosis.

The disease concept of chemical dependency was popularized by E.M. Jellinek in 1960. This followed the W.H.O. proclamation that Alcoholism was a serious medical problem in 1951, and the A.M.A. declared that Alcoholism was a treatable disease in 1956. It was after Jellinek popularized the idea that chemical dependency was a disease that both the American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association in 1965 and in 1966 began describing Alcoholism as a disease. It must be noted here that Jellinek’s proclamation was based on data he gathered from questionnaires distributed through the AA newsletter the Grapevine. Out of the original 158 questionnaires, 60 were discarded due to members collaborating on their answers. When you break this down, this means that the disease model was based on, and popularized by 78 surveys turned in by members of support group in which the members were already told that they were sick and diseased, and have no control over alcohol over other drugs.
