Schizophrenia typically begins with depressive symptoms and “negative symptoms” such as apathy, lack of ambition, inability to feel pleasure, and decreased quality of speech or facial movement. Early onset also shows through cognitive impairments like reduction in motor skills, poor abstract thought, and memory problems. Alcohol Depression Symptoms: How to Prevent Sleep Paralysis?
Question by Professor Oak: How to prevent sleep paralysis?
Best answer:
Answer by izzy
Apart from general advice tosleep on your so
ide I think it’s more a matter of coping.
Exercise, no alcohol at bedtime, no smoking, cut back on caffeine.
“If your sleep paralysis is particularly troublesome, you may be prescribed a short course of medication called a tricyclic antidepressant, such as clomipramine. Antidepressants are most commonly used to treat depression, but they can also treat severe sleep paralysis.
The medication works by altering the depth of REM sleep. This should stop the temporary paralysis when you wake up or fall asleep, and should also reduce the number of any hallucinations you have. The medication may be taken for a month or two to see if it improves your symptoms.”
I used to get it when I was much younger, now – touch wood – it doesn’t happen. I found having a dim light in the bedroom somehow comforting.
