How to Help a Alcoholic: Alcoholic “Father”?

Question by Polak: Alcoholic “Father”?
My “father” (I try to avoid the word “father” as much as possible) has been a heavy drinker as long as i can remember. Im in highschool and I feel his drinking is effecting me now more than ever. Im not afraid to say that I truely hate him. He doesnt drive (many DUIs), so my mom has to do everything… drive him to work, grocery shop, clean… etc. And he still drinks. Not only does he drink he also doesn’t talk to me nor my younger sisters. He just sits in his room and pretty much stares at the wall. I don’t think “he’s carrying his load” in other words he’s bring the family down financially and emotionally. I think Im starting to get depressed from him…. can anyone offer advice?????????
