40th Surprise B-Day Party! Ideas??

Question by harley20mom: 40th Surprise B-Day party! Ideas??
Ok, so, I’m trying to throw a surprise b-day party for my husband. I’ve already booked the band & location. I’m just not sure what should happen @ the party! It’s going to be @ a local pub, w/alcohol. $ 5 cover charge. Should I provide food? Thought about a cake but don’t know exactly how may people are going to be there. Should I have some kind of lttle game to play b/w breaks of the band?? The party is in Feb, so I still have a little time! Thanks to all who can help!
The reason for the cover charge is for the band….not for our own personal gain! I believe since the band is playing, THEY deserve to be paid! I want the party to just be a get together of mingling, music, dancing, & fun. I’m not sure about anywhere else, but where we’re from, NO ONE expects drinks to be bought for them, considering a couple hundred people will probably be attending! I guess I should have never asked such a question….considering most people answering probably live in some city & doesn’t understand the concept of how many people will be coming to a party such as this!

How to Convince an Alcoholic to Get Help: How Do You Deal With a Recovering Alcoholic? Are They Bad at Approaching Girls? Are They Bad News?

Question by Dash: How do you deal with a recovering alcoholic? Are they bad at approaching girls? Are they bad news?
This guy I like is a recovering alcoholic. He doesn’t know I know. He’s been past 2 years sober. He acts like he likes me for the last 9 months. He first started talking to me, complimenting me on my work. He’s very awkward around me and gets shy. He will blow hot and cold. It’s been going on 9 months, and I really am getting frustrated. Can being a recovering alcoholic effect this? He looks at me all the time, like almost too much. He acts like he’s interested, but doesn’t try to start conversations, only says hi, and doesn’t stay to converse. He will go away, then just look at me from a far.

He has a half foot tall glass that’s about 5 inches wide. He drinks about 3 or 4 glasses of it every day. He can’t go one day without drinking. If he goes long without a drink he gets really mean.

“He gets really mean,” is probably referring to him experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Yes, he is most likely an alcoholic.
